Clubbed Thumb Executive Board
Clubbed Thumb's executive board was formed in September, 2002. It meets twice annually.
- Dorothy Courtney recently retired after more than twenty years as Executive Director of the Richstone Family Center, which works to prevent and treat child abuse, to strengthen families, and promote nonviolent resolution of conflict in families and communities, which serves over 6,000 participants annually in 13 locations with a wide range of programs. Courtney has been a teacher, foreman of the Los Angeles County Grand Jury, a school board member, and a community volunteer focused on children and families. She serves on the regents of Loyola Marymount University and is the Chair of the Board of Governors for the California Community Foundation.
- Sarah Di Troia is the Director of Strategic Partnerships for New Profit, a national venture philanthropy fund designed to provide the necessary resources for social entrepreneurs to achieve their visions. Prior to coming to New Profit, Sarah was Associate Director at the Center for Effective Philanthropy (CEP), a nonprofit dedicated to assessing and improving the overall performance of philanthropic foundations. Sarah oversaw CEP's internal operations and led the Foundation Governance Project, which identified key challenges and effective practices in foundation governance. Sarah was a Principal at Axxon Capital, a venture fund focused on women- and minority-led companies. Sarah also spent several years working with start-up organizations in a variety of industries. Sarah serves on the steering committee of the New Group at The Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston.
- Mahnaz Fancy is the Executive Director of Arts of the Islamic World. From early 2001 through late 2002, Ms. Fancy directed the IndoCenter of Art & Culture, and was responsible for developing and implementing exhibitions, public programs, and educational initiatives, as well as directing institutional fund-raising, strategic development and marketing/PR. She has consulted for a variety of organizations, developing strategic plans and international cultural programs in disciplines of South Asian, Middle Eastern and Islamic arts. Ms. Fancy has curated exhibitions of contemporary Pakistani art in New York, advised on several major exhibitions of South Asian art, and is a freelance cultural critic.
- Meg MacCary (Secretary, Co-Director, Founder) is a co-founder and co-director of Clubbed Thumb. For the company, she has performed in Marie and Bruce, Pricked, Dirty Little Secrets, Summer Play, The Crazy Plays, Cleveland, 7 Blowjobs, Pastorale, Freakshow, Medea Eats, Downwinders, U.S. Drag, The Typographer's Dream, and What Then (2006 Obie Award for performance). Meg directs student productions at The Allen-Stevenson School and The Nightingale Bamford School. She received her B.A. from Brown University and her M.F.A. from U.C. San Diego.
- Maria Striar (Vice Chair, Co-Director, Founder) is a co-founder and co-director of Clubbed Thumb. For the company,she has directed Marie and Bruce, Pricked, The Professional Frenchman, and Downwinders, and performed in The Crazy Plays, Summer Play, Pastorale, Inky, Medea Eats, U.S. Drag, Red Death, and Those Who Can, Do. Maria is a graduate of Brown University and U.C. San Diego.
- David Tecson (Chairman) is President of Edgeworx, which provides production and post services for television, film, and emerging media. Recent work includes the feature films Herbie: Fully Loaded, Conversations With Other Women, The Kid Stays in the Picture, DEBS, MTV's Trippin, Hedwig and the Angry Inch and a variety of television/advertising work. Previously, David worked as a downtown lighting and set designer and then as Creative Director at CoSA, The Company of Science & Art, where he was an interface designer for After Effects. David is a graduate of Brown University and holds an M.B.A. from the NYU Stern School of Business.
- Angela Tribelli is Vice President of Online Strategy at NYC & Company, the official tourism marketing association for the City of New York. Prior to this role, Angela was Business Development Director for American Express Publishing's Interactive unit, which included the Web sites of Travel + Leisure, Food & Wine and Departures magazines. She has served on the Benefit Committee of Clubbed Thumb for four years. Angela is a graduate of Columbia University and holds an M.B.A. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
- Laurel Watts was an associate at the law firm Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen and Hamilton. From 1991-1992 she was a development assistant at En Garde Arts, a New York City site-specific new works theater company.In 1993, she produced two new plays as an independent producer and was the assistant producer for En Garde Arts at the London International Theatre Festival. She has also served on the board of Hausfrau, an NYC theater company. She has a B.A. from Brown University in History and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
